Education FAQs

How is this program different from other real estate training providers?

All RECO-approved providers deliver the same curriculum, but what sets us apart is choice. At CCG, you can complete the Real Estate Salesperson Program in the way that works best for you — either self-paced, where you start anytime and set your own schedule, or an instructor-led cohort, with a weekly live support and a peer group. Both pathways are RECO-approved and lead to the same license.

No, all of the materials that you will need to prepare for the certification exams are included inside your online classroom and available through the live online facilitated sessions with your instructor.

Yes. All RECO-approved providers deliver the same curriculum developed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario. The difference at CCG is that we give you two ways to complete it: fully self-paced or in an instructor-led cohort. In the cohort option, you’ll still do independent study, but you’ll also join weekly live sessions for content review, practical applications, and real-time Q&A with an instructor.

Our program is fully online, so there is no need to travel to Toronto in order to participate in your classes, or to take your certification exams.
No, you pay for each course prior to it beginning. You also pay for each certification exam as you schedule it. This way you are allowed to pay as you go, to spread the cost of the program over time.

The length of the Pre-Registration Program depends on the format you choose and how quickly you progress. Self-paced learners can move faster or slower depending on their schedule. Instructor-led cohorts follow a structured timeline with monthly starts. On average, most learners complete the Pre-Registration Program in 9–12 months, but it can be shorter if you study intensively or longer if you take more time between courses. The Cohort model keeps you on track to finish the program in 39.5 weeks.

Yes. With self-paced learning, you can pause and pick up again when it works for you. If you’re in a cohort, you can take a break and rejoin the next monthly group. Either way, your progress is saved, and you can continue toward completing the RECO requirements at your own pace.

Yes. If you start self-paced and later decide you’d like more structure, you can join a cohort. This flexibility is unique to CCG and ensures you’re never locked into one format.

Both options cover the same RECO-approved curriculum, but what’s included is different.

  • Self-Paced: Tuition is about $4,200. You move through the program independently, and exam prep sessions are optional add-ons if you’d like extra support.

  • Instructor-Led Cohort: Tuition is about $4,900. This includes live instruction, real-time Q&A, practical application exercises, and integrated exam prep built into your weekly classes.

Both pathways lead to the same RECO license — the difference is the level of structure and support you want as you complete the program.

Additional charges may apply, including RECO exam retake fees, withdrawal fees, or other costs set directly by RECO.

If you’re self-motivated and need maximum flexibility, self-paced may be the best fit. If you prefer structure, live guidance, and accountability, the instructor-led cohort is ideal. Both lead to the same career outcome — the difference is how you want to learn.

Start with Exam Expectations – As you work through your course materials, focus on truly understanding the content rather than simply completing lessons. Use the built-in quizzes to test your knowledge and identify gaps. If you answer a question incorrectly, take time to understand the correct answer and the reasoning behind it.

Review Key Course Materials – If there are modules or lessons you found challenging, consider revisiting those sections using the full Learning Materials. Repeating difficult content can help reinforce understanding and build confidence before the exam.

Use the Text Companions – Text companions provide PDF versions of your Learning Materials. Because they are easier to scan, they can be a faster way to review key concepts without re-doing the full course. This approach is especially helpful if you already feel confident in most of the course content.

Consider External Study Aids – Some students choose to use third-party exam preparation tools. While CCG and RECO do not endorse external providers, learners have shared positive feedback about services such as Pass-ItLinks to an external site., which offers practice questions and detailed explanations. These tools tend to be most effective after you have completed the course Learning Materials, not as a replacement for them.

Focus on Applying Concepts – Many professional exams test your ability to apply knowledge in real-world situations, not just recall facts. When reviewing content, ask yourself how concepts would be used in practical or professional scenarios.

Learn From Mistakes – When reviewing quizzes or practice questions, focus on understanding why an answer was incorrect. Identifying patterns in your mistakes can help you strengthen weak areas before the exam.

Use Active Study Techniques – Instead of re-reading content, try active strategies such as self-testing, creating flashcards, summarizing concepts in your own words, or explaining key topics out loud as if teaching someone else.

Plan Your Study Time – Create a study plan that spreads review over multiple days rather than cramming. Short, consistent study sessions are often more effective than long, last-minute review periods. When you are planning your study schedule, make sure that you will be able to continue with your cohort (if you are enrolled in that option).   After you complete the exam, review will take 2 days before you receive your result.

Prioritize High-Impact Content – Pay close attention to learning objectives, instructor guidance, and topics emphasized throughout the course. These areas are often more important for exam preparation.

Prepare for Exam Day – Make sure you are well-rested, understand the exam format and rules, and have tested any required technology in advance. This includes confirming that your computer meets the required technical specifications for the exam and you have access to a second device that will function as a second camera (if you are taking your exam online). Reducing last-minute stress can help you perform at your best.

Will the facilitator guide us through the material?

Yes. In the cohort model, you’ll still complete independent learning, but your instructor will lead weekly sessions, answer questions in real time, and help you apply the course concepts to prepare for the RECO exams.

This program is designed so that you can benefit from having the consistency of a facilitator that you know and a supportive cohort of other learners. But we understand that you may not be able to stay on an ideal schedule, and may need to step away from your cohort. If that occurs, we will work with you so that you can rejoin the program with a new cohort as soon as you are able.

If you need to take a break during a course (not the entire program), you can complete the course on your own time, and take advantage of the recorded facilitated sessions. After you complete the course and pass the associated certification exam, we will work with you to join a new cohort as soon as you are able.

The Career College Group schedules a new cohort every month, with different overall program durations as well as different live meeting times during the day, evenings or weekends.

SELF-PACED FAQs

Can I start anytime?

Yes. With self-paced learning, you can enroll and begin right away — no need to wait for a cohort launch date.

You’ll move through the same RECO-approved curriculum independently, setting your own study schedule. You decide when to review lessons, complete assignments, and write exams.

No. Exam review is optional for self-paced learners. If you’d like extra support, you can purchase review sessions separately or switch into a cohort where exam prep is integrated.

You always have the option to join a cohort later. This flexibility is unique to CCG and ensures you can adapt your learning format if your needs change.

That depends on your schedule and how quickly you move through the material. Some learners progress faster, while others take more time between courses. On average, students complete the Pre-Registration Program in 9–12 months, but you control the pace.
