Cabinetmaking Diploma Program

Do you have a passion for working with wood and an eye for detail? Modern cabinetmaking combines the accumulated knowledge of hundreds of years of traditional woodworking, with cutting edge modern tools and technology. NATS’ Cabinetmaking program will take your love of wood and turn it into a marketable skill. You will learn all aspects of the trade – identifying and selecting wood, reading drawings, operating woodworking machines and practicing the basic arts of cabinetry.

What You Will Learn In The Classroom

This curriculum is designed to provide classroom and lab “hands-on” training in woodworking,

cabinetmaking and installation with particular emphasis placed on: design and layout, blueprint reading, material use in design, use of power machines and tools, surfacing techniques, abrasive techniques, adhesives and laminating procedures. Time management skills and the ability to work to a deadline are developed throughout the program.


What You Will Learn In The Labs

Your hands-on training includes the basic arts of cabinetry, including shaping and cutting wood, assembling components, installing fasteners and hardware and working on the preparation of articles for finishing, including the application of different types of decorative and protective finishes.

Students in the Cabinetmaking program will work with the following equipment: table saw, miter saw, drill press, band saw, planer, joiner, router, shaper, edge banding machine and a wide range of power and pneumatic tools.


What You Will Learn Outside of the Regular Classroom Setting

TPI-MAS helps students recognize the choices they have in life and how to control how they think to change the way they live their lives. Students will understand how the human mind works and how their beliefs and attitudes influence the present and shape the future. The program encourages students to have a positive outlook and strive for goals despite any challenges and obstacles.
